Previously known as the coconut man, Farmer Shallom, gathers true profit from his small garden filled to the brim with pineapples.

Local pineapples are a hot commodity and used in smoothies, juices and add a sweet kick to grilled fish. Pineapple slips secure an additional income for Shallom which he distributes to customers and garden owners.

These pictures offer moments from our joint coconut hunt at the start of May. On a weekly basis, Shallom uses spikes to climb trees and within a few hours sells coconut water at various locations throughout Tortola.

He brags fondly that he has visited every single isle in the territory by spending several years on water, training towards a captains license. The farmer had much to offer on missteps in the agricultural field and worked extensively in Puerto Rico, St. Croix and St. John before returning to Tortola to clear his own land. We send him the very best this pineapple season as he starts to harvest and sell his produce.

Thank you for your continued support. Please reach out directly if you would like to suggest a farmer who deserves recognition. Your presence is appreciated.
